Music
A rich experience.
“It is just dots and lines, until you play it.”
St Leonard’s is renowned for the quality of its music. Our school and chamber choirs are of particular quality and perform regularly in school and at other venues, be that at concerts or in competition. The choirs play a large part in the life of the school singing a regular pattern of services during the academic year.
The school is well supported by Durham Music Service and offers a wide range of instrumental lessons, including upper and lower strings, voice, brass, woodwind, percussion, keyboard and guitar. If any pupil would like further information, please speak to your music teacher. In return for receiving subsidised lessons in school, pupils (at Grade 1 or above) are expected to join either the lower school orchestra (Grades 1 – 3) or senior orchestra (grade 3 and above) and/or the choir as appropriate. Entry to all the ensembles is open to all pupils, whether they have instrumental lessons in school or not.
You can read more about how we want to develop Music in the Music Development Plan.
For further details of instrumental lessons , please contact Durham Music Service:
