Special Educational Needs and Disabilities provision at St Leonard’s.

Saint Leonard’s Catholic School is an inclusive school, endeavouring to be equitable, giving students support and resources based on their individual need. Our school mission of ‘Pursuing excellence in all and for all’ is at the heart of our provision for our students with special educational needs and/or disabilities. In line with the SEN Code of Practice 2015, we use our best endeavours which involves doing everything we can to remove barriers to learning and to promote the best possible personal, social and academic outcomes, for our students with special educational needs. The Learning Support department is committed to ensuring that all students receive the support they require in order to access the high-quality teaching that is available. The department also works closely with the teaching staff to provide the ‘additional to and different from’ support that is needed by some of our students. We believe that high quality teaching and special education provision must go hand in hand in order for our high ambitions for our students with SEN to be realised. Students and families are involved in decision-making and participate fully in all stages of the identification and provision for the meeting of needs.
