Policy on Sixth Form admissions.

How to apply

To apply to St Leonard’s Sixth Form, please complete the application form below and either return it to sixthformadmissions@stl.bwcet.com via email or hand the completed paper form in at reception or by post to our postal address: The Sixth Form Administrator, St Leonard’s School, North End, Durham, DH1 4NG.

The application form is an indication of your initial interest in the subject courses, there will be several opportunities throughout the year to confirm your intentions, after masterclasses and taster sessions, including family interviews and results day contact.

Entrance Requirements

Typically, students will be required to achieve a minimum of a GCSE Grade 6 in each of the subjects they wish to study at A Level, but Grade 5 in some arts and humanities subjects will be accepted. For BTEC Level 3 students the entry requirement is a minimum of 4 GCSE Grade 4s or BTEC Level 2 equivalents. Any student who does not achieve a Grade 4 for either Maths or English will have the opportunity to study and re-sit alongside their other courses.

External candidates are welcome to apply for Sixth Form places using the same process at internal students. We do not limit the number of places available to external candidates.

We are justifiably proud of the high-quality teaching each student receives from dedicated subject specialists. Together with small class sizes, and expert individual support, we try to enable every individual to achieve their ambitions.
