Year 10

Homepage for Year 10.

Year 10 is an exciting time in the life of a pupil at St Leonard’s as they begin their GCSEs following their options in Year 9. For Year 10, pupils are placed into one of two sides of the year group, X and Y. They will then be in this side of the year group for English, Mathematics, Science and RE. Options subjects are mixed between the two sides of the year group.

Year 10 is therefore an opportunity for pupils to begin to study their chosen subjects in significantly more depth than they did at Key Stage 3. More information about the curriculum on offer to Year 10 pupils can be found on the Curriculum section of the website.

Pupils in Year 10 will also have their first formal set of mock examinations, which will take place in the examination hall after the GCSE examinations have finished. This gives pupils one of their first realistic experiences of what real GCSE examinations will be like and is part of our preparations to help pupils achieve their very best by the end of Key Stage 4.
