St Leonard's

Our aim is to ensure the move from primary to secondary school is as seamless as possible.  Choosing the right secondary school is a very important decision and as soon as a child makes this decision they become a very important part of the St Leonard’s community. 

The transition programme for students joining St Leonard’s starts whilst pupils are in their primary schools and runs for a 2-year period for year 5 and 6 pupils. The programme aims to provide opportunities for new pupils to become familiar with the building, staff and other pupils as well as the standards and expectations of the school. 

Working with parents and families is a very important part of this programme, we run an enhanced programme for pupils with additional needs and want to ensure that pastoral care is at the heart of our provision. Transition Summer 2025

Feeder Primary: school visits St Leonard’s staff will hold workshops within our feeder primary schools, welcoming pupils into our school community. Week Commencing Monday 19th May.

Non-feeder Primary school: visit All pupils from non-feeder primary schools will visit St Leonard’s, to meet staff and be welcomed into our school community. This will be the same session as the feeder primary school workshop. Morning of Thursday 5th June.

Family Support and Enhanced Transition SEND: Our pupil support and SEND team will begin working with schools to ensure that those pupils with additional needs are fully supported. Individual Meetings / Communication: as needed and requested by families and primary schools.

Information Evening: Parents and pupils welcome and information evening. This is a time to meet key staff and hear more about life at St Leonard’s. Monday 30th June 5-7pm.

Intake Day: All pupils joining us in September 2024 will visit and spend a whole day at St Leonard’s in their new Tutor Groups. Friday 4th July.

Summer School: Summer School at St. Leonard’s is a wonderful way to make new friends and familiarise themselves with the school and staff. Everyone is very welcome. Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd July.

First Day: All pupils will be welcomed for their first day. Tuesday 2nd September.
