New Build

A post in our latest news section.

Brief History

Springwell Hall, a rich coal mine owner’s mansion, set in spacious grounds on the northern outskirts of Durham city, was purchased by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle in 1935. One year later, on 26th August 1936, Springwell Hall became the home to St Leonard’s Catholic Central School.

These design images give an impression of how the new building will look. In particular the combination of the historic Victorian house with modern state of the art buildings is more than impressive. Equally, the connection between inside spaces and outside spaces really draws out the historic nature of the site and the beauty of the views to the south of the school site.
