Holocaust Memorial Talk

We welcomed Rev Canon Caroline Dick from St Cuthbert’s Church of England parish to lead our reflections and prayers in the week that marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. We cannot fathom the depth of suffering for so many millions of Jewish and other victims of the Holocaust, but we can start to glimpse the scale of the horror through the testimony of one family. Caroline shared her family story, of her mother, Helene, who escaped the selection process in a Nazi concentration camp at the age of 14, of her aunt, Lottie, who perished at the age of 7, and of her grandmother, Karoline, who was also murdered. 

All the pupils were incredibly respectful during Caroline’s presentation, and it is so important that the message of ‘Never Forget, Never Again’ is passed to a new generation. Caroline shared her poem about her family with the students:
