St Leonard's

A huge weekend of rowing across two days for SLSBC.

After a year of school transition, interrupted training, and difficult conditions, our rowers pulled together for the big one, Durham Regatta! Our junior boys and girls’ crews put up a sterling effort but after racing excellent heats, were beaten by more experienced crews. As the wind blew on Saturday, the course became, at times, almost un rowable, but they soldiered on, as determined, and with SLSBC spirit…

Sunday’s racing was calmer and we saw more second places until our senior women’s double blistered through the heats and only lost their final by a bow ball, an agonisingly close call! On the last day, the last race of the day and the last Durham Regatta for our senior boys, came the race of a lifetime. They stormed out in front off the start and increased their lead, as they moved towards the orange light. Finally, they won! Through all of their hard work, perseverance, and dedication we are delighted to see the boys claim their victory before they head off to Australia on a rowing programme for a year, what a way to finish!

Well done and congratulations to all of SLSBC, only Talkin’ Tarn left this season. #YessssLeonarrrdddsss
